Mechanical Construction Manager Major Commercial Shell & Core Projects | London Full Travel Covered | Bonus | Pension | Healthcare The Opportunity We are working with a rapidly growing, specialist building services contractor delivering high-value mechanical packages across landmark commercial developments in London. With a strong pipeline of major shell & core commercial schemes, the business is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to take ownership of site delivery on complex, fast-paced projects. Projects range from £20 Million to £50 Million MEP value. This is a key operational role, reporting into senior project leadership, with full responsibility for managing mechanical installation from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover. The Role As Mechanical Construction Manager, you will lead the on-site delivery of mechanical services packages, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, to the highest quality standards and within budget. You will be the focal point between site teams, subcontractors, and the main contractor—driving programme, quality, and coordination on large-scale commercial builds. Key Responsibilities Project & Site Management · Take full ownership of mechanical installation on major shell & core schemes · Develop and drive short-term programmes and two-week lookaheads · Ensure all works are delivered in line with programme milestones and sequencing · Monitor labour levels and productivity against project targets Technical & Coordination · Review drawings, specifications, and identify clashes or scope gaps · Manage RFIs, technical submissions, and design coordination · Ensure installations are delivered in line with latest drawing revisions · Work closely with main contractor and professional teams to maintain progress · Subcontractor & Labour Management · Manage mechanical subcontractors and direct labour on site · Ensure appropriate resource levels and competency across all works · Drive performance through supervisors and ensure clear communication of deliverables · Lead progress meetings and daily coordination activities Health, Safety & Compliance · Ensure RAMS are in place, understood, and adhered to by all operatives · Lead toolbox talks and enforce site safety standards · Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site organisation · Work closely with QHSE teams to ensure full compliance Quality & Delivery · Drive a right-first-time installation approach to minimise snagging · Implement and manage installation benchmarks prior to full rollout · Manage testing, commissioning, and handover processes · Oversee snagging, QA, and final delivery to client expectations Commercial Awareness · Monitor labour and material spend against project budgets · Plan and manage material procurement to maintain programme continuity · Support the commercial team with progress reporting and cost control · Reporting & Documentation · Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries and progress updates · Produce marked-up drawings and progress reports · Support the production of record/as-built documentation The Candidate · Strong mechanical background, ideally progressed from a tools-based route · Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager on large commercial projects · Demonstrable experience delivering shell & core commercial developments · Experience managing mechanical packages typically £5M+ · Strong understanding of programme management, sequencing, and logistics · Excellent communication skills and ability to manage main contractor relationships · Proactive, organised, and delivery-focused mindset Why Join · Opportunity to work on high-profile London commercial developments · Strong pipeline of secured work across major schemes · Fast-growing, well-backed business with clear progression opportunities · Collaborative, delivery-focused culture with a strong reputation in the market · Competitive salary, package, and long-term career prospects
