Client: My Client is a family-owned business with a turnover in excess of £150 million per annum. They mainly operate within the new build residential sector but also do projects in the Education and public sector. They have been trading for 50 years and have become a significant contractor within London, Essex and Hertfordshire. They typically work on projects around £15m in build value.

Role: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – South Woodford – Salary Between £60,000 - £80,000

Benefits: The successful candidate will be working out of their South Woodford head office working on a portfolio of projects within London, Essex and Hertfordshire.

Responsibilities:

  • To design the Building Services for design and build contracts, in accordance with all current industry recognised design guides, British Standards and Building Regulations etc.
  • Assist project staff in providing general design input, as required, to all RIBA work stages.
  • Work efficiently with the in-house Architectural Design Department and external design teams accordingly.
  • Attend design team meetings and project sites as necessary.
  • Advise on cost effectiveness of alternative design methods/product specifications.
  • Produce drawings and efficient specification packages based on Employer’s Requirements.
  • Manage design output to agreed programmes.
  • Instigate, where possible, standard design solutions.
  • Support MEP Estimators (with design solutions) as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Minimum accredited degree qualified.
  • Professional background in Building Services (with stable employment with the same company/group for three or more years).
  • Suitable experience of new build residential projects, including communal air source heat pumps.
  • A good appreciation of other design disciplines.
  • A good understanding of communal heating and CIBSE CP1.
  • Good technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a team player.
