An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Quality Assurance to join a large, technically complex MEP contracting organisation operating on major UK projects. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for setting and embedding quality strategy across the business, modernising quality systems and leading the transition to a fully digital QA environment.
Overview on Head of Quality Assurance Role: Reporting into senior operational leadership, the Head of Quality Assurance will take ownership of the company’s Quality Management System, ensuring consistent application across projects, regions and disciplines. A key focus of the role will be the review, rationalisation and digitisation of existing QA procedures, embedding them within a newly implemented project management platform (PROCORE). The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving standardisation, audit readiness and right first time delivery across a high-value project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Management & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 and industry best practice
- Review and modernise existing QA procedures, work instructions, and templates
- Ensure consistent application of quality standards across all projects and departments
- Provide technical quality guidance to project and delivery teams
- Lead the management and close-out of non-conformances and corrective actions
- Lead the migration of QA systems and documentation into a digital project management environment
- Convert legacy QA processes into structured, electronic workflows
- Define system governance, document control and version management
- Support system rollout, training and ongoing optimisation
- Lead internal and external audit programmes across projects and offices
- Act as the primary point of contact for certification bodies and auditors
- Maintain ISO 9001 and other relevant industry accreditations
- Support bid, tender and pre-qualification submissions with quality input
- Lead, mentor and develop QA Managers and Engineers
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Commercial, Design, HSE and IT teams
- Champion a culture of quality ownership and continuous improvement
- Provide quality performance reporting, KPIs and risk insights to senior leadership
About You
You will be a senior QA professional with strong leadership experience gained within an MEP or construction contracting environment as well as knowledge in Procore.
Essential:
- Senior-level QA / Quality leadership experience within construction or MEP
- Proven experience developing and managing ISO 9001-aligned QMS
- Strong internal and external audit background
- Experience modernising QA systems and processes
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership skills
