Client: My client has established themselves as one of the UK’s premier M&E contractors. Following their formation almost 75 years ago, they have grown their turnover to over £200m per annum. The business boasts an envious track record of delivering some of the UK’s and London’s landmark projects. Typically they specialise in major shell and core projects in sectors such as commercial offices, healthcare, pharmaceutical and education. Despite their size, this Tier 1 M&E Contractor has fantastic staff retention rates with a reputation for looking after their staff. They offer excellent exposure and internal training schemes with a hands-on approach to developing their staff.

Role: BMS Project Engineer - London – £70,000 - £80,000

The successful candidate will be overseeing the businesses major projects within London typically major shell and core commercial and pharmaceutical/laboratory projects. You will start on a £45million scheme close to Liverpool Street.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the technical delivery of the BMS package from initial inception through to handover.
  • Ensuring that the technical issues are resolved without delay.
  • Process internal procurement from equipment enquiries through requisitioning and monitoring manufacture through to delivery to site whilst maintaining a comprehensive audit trail.
  • Attend and record regular supply chain meetings to ensure that progress is monitored and maintained within the overall construction programme.
  • Prepare risk assessments, method statements and all aspects relating to Health and Safety on site.
  • Liaise with the design team and supply chain to ensure correct operation of the plant on site and successful handover.
  • Monitor and record progress on site against the construction programme.
  • Ensure that the Health and Safety, Environment and quality procedures are followed and adequate records maintained.
  • Develop the project specific quality plan.
  • Undertake regular meetings with the supply chain to maintain progress and to ensure resources are matched to the construction programme.
  • To liaise with the project manager and prepare the project close out report.
  • Review with the project manager the allocation of resources and to review progress.
  • Review and ensure that the site-based personnel have the correct training and valid certificate for the project.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5 years’ industry experience
  • Good general knowledge of building services engineering systems and their implementation.
  • Good communicator.
  • Competent in Health and Safety management.
  • Programme oriented.
  • Eye for quality.
  • Good organiser and able to implement systems.
  • Prepared to be innovative.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to build relationships e.g. marketing relationships with external professionals and clients, strategic relationships with contractors and suppliers.
  • Develop and contribute strategic thinking at Project level.
