We are representing a leading specialist M&E Contractor delivering innovative Mechanical & Electrical solutions specialising in the commercial sector with some interface in the education and healthcare sectors. With a strong project pipeline and a reputation in the industry, they’re seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to support continued growth and drive commercial performance across their M&E operations. As M&E Commercial Manager, you’ll take ownership of all commercial aspects across multiple projects ranging in value from £5m–£15m. You’ll lead a team of Quantity Surveyors and work closely with project teams, the Commercial Director, and clients to ensure financial control, risk management, and contract compliance are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the commercial function on M&E projects from pre-contract through to final account
- Manage and mentor a team of SQS's & QS's
- Oversee procurement strategies, subcontractor management, and cost planning
- Access commercial strategies & procedures to understand where the commercial department needs to implement new processes to optimise the commercial resources at hand.
- Monitor budgets, cash flow, and project profitability
- Ensure timely submission of valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Conduct regular commercial reporting to the Commercial Director
- Ensure compliance with contracts (NEC/JCT) and risk mitigation strategies
- Develop client relationships and support business development initiatives
- Liaise both upstream & downstream on project status, profitability/profit & loss reports & overall commercial management with senior management
- Proven experience in a similar Commercial Manager role or Senior Quantity Surveyor within M&E Construction
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical packages and systems
- Knowledge of construction contracts (JCT/NEC)
- Ability to manage a commercial team and work across multiple live projects
- Strong negotiation, communication, and financial reporting skills
