Electrical Estimator

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + Package (Car Allowance + Travel to Site + Pension + Healthcare & more!)

My client has established themselves as one of the UK’s leading M&E Contractors. Following their formation over 70+ years ago, they have grown their turnover in excess of £250m per annum. The business boasts a track record of delivering some of the UK’s and London’s landmark projects. Typically, they specialise in major shell and core projects in sectors such as commercial offices, healthcare, pharmaceutical, education & more. Despite their size, this Tier 1 M&E Contractor has fantastic staff retention rates with a reputation for looking after their staff. They offer excellent exposure and internal training schemes with a hands-on approach to developing their staff.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Estimating team with Electrical bids and tenders.
  • Prepare and submit prime cost estimates utilising Estimating Software systems.
  • Liaise with internal and external engineers, consultants and subcontractors to construct and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications and other documentation to prepare estimates.
  • Identify and provide alternative design proposals, solutions and value engineering options.
  • Establish and maintain tendering processes and conduct negotiations.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
  • Monitor targets and workflow.
  • Control and organise tender documentation.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather pricing and technical information.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, materials, and pricing trends.
  • Perform other duties at managements’ discretion.

Requirements:

  • A sound technical knowledge of Electrical systems essential.
  • Experience in Electrical Estimating.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry essential.
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office, estimating software and on-screen take off.
  • Strong communication skills should be able to communicate confidently with all members of the construction team, directors, clients and consultants.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with confidence and accuracy.
