They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead the Mechanical element on a fast and complex project in Oxford. Based in an ever-growing science park, this scheme is a £4m Mechanical package on a private hospital facility. Preconstruction has begun with the install beginning around Q3 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to take the project from pre-construction through to handover. Key to this role is relationship management, team coordination, and project reporting. The position will be supported by a team of engineers, construction managers, and supervisors.
Role/Responsibilities:
- Design Management (reviewing design liaising with client, main contractor, and consultants)
- Procurement of subcontractors, kit, and plant
- Technical submittals
- RFIs – Liaison with client team, main contractor, and subcontractors
- Value Engineering where applicable
- Programming of works – using MS Project or Asta project
- Health & Safety management (RAMs)
- Commercial Responsibility, assisting with subcontractor variation accounts working alongside project-specific Quantity Surveyor
- Management of variations
- Team Coordination (overseeing junior engineers, construction managers, and supervisors)
- Progress meetings with subcontractors, client, and internal meetings
- Overseeing commissioning stages
- Formulation of OM Manuals and client handover
The ideal candidate:
- Will be familiar working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in the commercial sector
- Experience managing projects to a minimum of £6M within your own discipline
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior management role
- Ideally, the candidate will have subcontracted to main contractors such as ISG, Lend Lease, Sir Robert McAlpine, and Mace
- The candidate will show longevity in previous employment
