Salary up to £105,000 plus Travel, Healthcare, and Pension. Location: Oxford.

They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead the Mechanical element on a fast and complex project in Oxford. Based in an ever-growing science park, this scheme is a £4m Mechanical package on a private hospital facility. Preconstruction has begun with the install beginning around Q3 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to take the project from pre-construction through to handover. Key to this role is relationship management, team coordination, and project reporting. The position will be supported by a team of engineers, construction managers, and supervisors.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Design Management (reviewing design liaising with client, main contractor, and consultants)
  • Procurement of subcontractors, kit, and plant
  • Technical submittals
  • RFIs – Liaison with client team, main contractor, and subcontractors
  • Value Engineering where applicable
  • Programming of works – using MS Project or Asta project
  • Health & Safety management (RAMs)
  • Commercial Responsibility, assisting with subcontractor variation accounts working alongside project-specific Quantity Surveyor
  • Management of variations
  • Team Coordination (overseeing junior engineers, construction managers, and supervisors)
  • Progress meetings with subcontractors, client, and internal meetings
  • Overseeing commissioning stages
  • Formulation of OM Manuals and client handover

The ideal candidate:

  • Will be familiar working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in the commercial sector
  • Experience managing projects to a minimum of £6M within your own discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior management role
  • Ideally, the candidate will have subcontracted to main contractors such as ISG, Lend Lease, Sir Robert McAlpine, and Mace
  • The candidate will show longevity in previous employment
