We’re working closely with one of London’s most respected and fastest growing M&E contractors who are actively looking to hire a Principal Technical Manager – Mechanical. This is a key hire for the business as they continue to deliver some of the most complex commercial, mixed-use and large-scale shell & core projects in the capital. This is not just another \”sign-off and move on\” design management role — you\’ll be the technical lead across pre-construction and delivery, shaping how major projects are designed, coordinated, and brought to life. The role will suit someone who: Is technically strong on mechanical systems and wants to be involved from strategy and planning through to delivery Enjoys mentoring and leading others (including Engineers, Project Managers and Design Managers) Likes working closely with commercial and operational teams to ensure buildability and performance are baked into the design Wants to work in a business where your opinion matters and your results are rewarded Key responsibilities will include: • Leading mechanical design reviews across high-value projects • Supporting project bids and early-stage strategy workshops • Coaching engineers, design managers and project leaders technically • Overseeing technical governance across multiple live jobs • Engaging with client teams and internal departments on all things mechanical • Driving innovation and setting technical standards • Working closely with delivery teams to ensure coordinated, buildable design The ideal candidate: • Has strong mechanical building services experience (ideally with an M&E contractor) • Can manage design and technical processes from Stage 2 to handover • Understands fast-paced project delivery in commercial fit-out or major new build • Has previously worked on projects upwards of £10m MEP • Is confident representing technical issues at client and main contractor meetings • Has a minimum of 8–10 years\’ experience in a senior technical role In return, they offer: • A senior leadership role on landmark projects • Clear scope for progression in a business that\’s scaling fast • Competitive base salary + strong performance-related bonus • Company car or car allowance • Travel paid to site (subject to advisory rates) • Private medical, enhanced pension and wellness support • 26 days holiday + bank holidays • Industry-leading parental leave If you want a role where you\’re respected for your technical leadership, given room to operate, and rewarded for the results you help deliver — then get in touch in confidence
