The Financial Controller will oversee financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting and compliance plus helping to support their growth plans and strategic direction.

My client is an SME group of diverse businesses that have clear growth plans and a strong entrepreneurial direction.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting.
  • Develop and maintain strong financial controls, systems, and policies.
  • Partner with senior management to provide commercial insight and support strategic planning.
  • Manage year-end audit, statutory accounts, and tax compliance.
  • Oversee financial audits and liaise with auditors as required.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align financial strategies with business goals.
  • Implement process improvements and drive automation where possible.
  • Support funding, investment, and growth initiatives.
  • Manage and mentor junior finance staff.
Profile
  • Professional qualifications in accounting or finance (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
  • Worked in an SME environment.
  • Ideally experienced in working for a group of businesses.
  • Strong experience in financial reporting and compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial tools.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards relevant to the business services industry.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
