This is a highly influential role where you will drive innovation, develop technical standards, and ensure engineering control platforms remain safe, efficient, scalable, and future-ready. Working closely with Property, Operations, IT, and Engineering teams, you will play a pivotal role in delivering long-term improvements that support operational performance, energy efficiency, and business objectives.

Our client are seeking an experienced Engineering Controls Manager to take ownership of the controls and Building Management Systems (BMS) strategy across a large and diverse estate, including retail and distribution environments.

Description

  • Develop and enhance engineering controls and BMS platforms across the estate.
  • Create and maintain industry-leading technical standards aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with technical, operational, property, and IT stakeholders to deliver consistent engineering solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, simplification, and cost-effective improvements.
  • Lead the development of short, medium, and long-term controls strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, industry experts, and internal stakeholders.
  • Produce technical specifications and support the design and delivery of engineering projects.
  • Develop business cases for new technologies, trials, and improvement initiatives.
  • Support energy reduction programmes and operational efficiency projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practice.

Profile

  • Proven experience within Engineering Controls, Building Management Systems (BMS), or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience delivering technical projects from concept through to implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of controls platforms, automation systems, and associated technologies.
  • Experience writing technical specifications and managing external suppliers and contractors.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • The ability to balance operational requirements with long-term strategic objectives.
  • A strong understanding of industry standards, compliance requirements, and emerging technologies.
