A leading 3PL business in Slough is seeking a Transport Shift Supervisor to oversee daily transport operations, ensuring efficient route planning, compliance, and exceptional service delivery. Our client is a market-leading third-party logistics (3PL) provider with a strong reputation for service excellence, innovation, and reliability. Operating from a modern distribution facility in the Slough area, they partner with a diverse customer base across FMCG, retail, and e-commerce sectors, delivering outstanding end-to-end logistics solutions.
As the business continues to grow, they are seeking a Transport Shift Supervisor to join their dynamic team, supporting the day-to-day running of the transport operation across multiple shifts.
Reporting into the Transport Manager, the Transport Shift Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring the smooth, compliant, and efficient running of the transport operation. You will be responsible for leading a team of drivers and transport staff to deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining the highest safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead, motivate, and manage drivers and transport coordinators on shift.
- Plan and allocate routes efficiently to meet customer delivery schedules.
- Ensure full compliance with Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive, and Road Transport regulations.
- Monitor vehicle performance, maintenance, and utilisation.
- Work closely with the warehouse and customer service teams to maintain service levels.
- Manage shift handovers, reporting, and performance KPIs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence.
- Handle any transport-related incidents or issues swiftly and effectively.
The ideal Transport Shift Supervisor candidate will have a strong transport operations background within a 3PL, haulage, or distribution environment, along with a proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced setting.
You will have:
- Previous experience as a Transport Shift Supervisor / Transport Team Leader / Transport Controller.
- Strong working knowledge of transport legislation and compliance.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound operational decisions.
- Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern (including weekends).
