The Payroll Officer will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for employees within the industrial/manufacturing sector. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to navigate payroll systems efficiently in a permanent position based in Telford.
This role is with a small-sized organisation within the industrial/manufacturing sector. The company is committed to delivering high-quality services, and the Telford-based team is looking for a skilled professional to join their accounting and finance department.
The Payroll Officer will:
- Own and manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process, from data collection to final submission and reporting
- Process monthly payroll
- Manage and validate overtime and timesheets
- Monitor and reconcile payroll runs, ensuring accuracy across all entities
- Administer statutory payroll reporting, pension uploads, and compliance requirements
- Maintain full responsibility for payroll processes across approximately 230 employees, split across 3 entities
- Prepare payroll data for monthly financial reporting
- Support budget collation, to consolidate payroll costs monthly
- Lead payroll activity for year-end and interim audits
- Work closely with the HR team to support payroll-related HR processes
- Assist with death-in-service renewals and payroll-linked benefits administration
- Act as a trusted and discreet point of contact for sensitive payroll matters
- Support the L&D function by working with skills matrices and competency platforms
- Extract and analyse learning data and reports (e.g. via SAP SuccessFactors)
A successful Payroll Officer should have:
- Experience in payroll processing within the industrial/manufacturing sector
- Proficiency in payroll software SAP SuccessFactors and Microsoft Office applications
- A strong understanding of UK payroll regulations and compliance requirements
