Description

Corporate Banking Manager

Swindon | Relationship-Led Corporate Banking | Exceptional Benefits Package

Are you a Corporate Banking Relationship Manager who enjoys working closely with clients, structuring lending transactions and making commercial banking decisions, but is becoming frustrated by the bureaucracy, internal politics and target-driven culture often found within larger banks?

This could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

We're working with a highly respected international bank that takes a genuinely relationship-led approach to corporate banking. Rather than focusing on product pushing, hard sales targets and quarterly sales bonuses, the business empowers its bankers to build long-term relationships with local businesses and become trusted advisers to their clients. The focus is on quality relationships, prudent lending and helping clients achieve their long-term objectives.

The Opportunity

Based in Swindon, you will be responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of corporate clients whilst identifying and onboarding new customers within the local market.

This is not a transactional role where opportunities are handed to you. You will take ownership of relationships from initial introduction through to sanction and drawdown, becoming the trusted banking partner to your clients and maintaining those relationships for the long term.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and developing a portfolio of corporate customers.
  • Building relationships with local businesses, professional introducers and advisers.
  • Winning and onboarding new corporate banking clients.
  • Conducting detailed financial analysis and balance sheet assessment.
  • Structuring lending transactions and recommending appropriate facilities.
  • Preparing and presenting credit applications.
  • Assessing transaction suitability, affordability and risk.
  • Completing annual reviews and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
  • Monitoring covenant compliance and management information.
  • Coordinating and managing the full lending process through to drawdown.
  • Maintaining a strong focus on credit quality, risk management and client service.

Profile

Corporate Banking Manager

About You

To be considered, you must have experience within Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking or Relationship Banking and be comfortable taking ownership of lending opportunities from origination through to credit approval and drawdown.

You will ideally have experience:

  • Managing corporate or commercial banking relationships.
  • Structuring lending facilities and transactions.
  • Analysing company accounts, cash flows and balance sheets.
  • Assessing lending suitability and credit risk.
  • Preparing credit papers and recommendations.
  • Working with credit teams to secure approvals.
  • Managing transactions through to completion and drawdown.
  • Developing business through professional introducers and local networking.

This role is unlikely to suit candidates whose experience is purely operational, support-focused or sales-oriented without meaningful credit analysis and transaction responsibility.

Job Offer

Why Join?

  • Competitive base salary
  • Β£6,000 annual car allowance
  • Profit share scheme (no individual sales targets or sales bonus)
  • 15% non-contributory pension
  • 30 days annual leave
  • Genuine work-life balance
  • Five days in the office and local market developing real client relationships
  • Local decision-making and strong relationship banking culture
  • Long-term customer focus rather than product sales
  • Highly respected international banking group
  • Opportunity to become a trusted adviser to local businesses rather than simply managing internal processes

This Corporate Banking Manager role will particularly appeal to ambitious corporate bankers who still enjoy building relationships and winning business but are looking to move away from a large, highly corporate environment and into a bank where relationship quality, sound credit judgement and customer service genuinely come first.
