To provide effective engineering support through planned maintenance, breakdown response, and remedial works to site equipment and buildings, ensuring operational reliability and safety.
Our client is a large luxury, stable PLC operating business nationwide, with an annual turnover approaching £600 million. The scale of the organisation offers long-term security, structured career development, and exposure to best-in-class engineering standards across the wider group.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure company disciplines, rules, and standards are consistently maintained.
- Maintain company assets to achieve maximum operational efficiency and reliability.
- Communicate effectively with Production teams and engineering colleagues.
- Maintain awareness and control of spare parts required for site plant and equipment.
- Operate in accordance with company procedures and documented standards.
- Carry out planned maintenance tasks in line with engineering and safety standards.
- Respond to and repair equipment breakdowns in a safe and timely manner.
- Complete remedial engineering works to plant, equipment, or site infrastructure as directed by the Engineering Manager.
- Proactively identify and report any safety risks or potential equipment failures.
Engineers work fixed night or day shifts, allowing for consistent sleep patterns, personal routines, and family commitments. Average working week of 42.00 hours. The shift pattern operates on 12-hour shifts plus a 30-minute daily handover. Shift rotating basis 3-shifts week, followed by a 4-shift week, throughout the year.
Profile:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to quickly learn and use new IT systems, including CMMS software.
- Capable of building effective working relationships across all levels of the business.
- High attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach.
- Confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and responsive to business needs.
- Willingness to work unsocial hours, including permanent night shifts where applicable.
- Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. ONC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent).
- Competent in both electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines.
- Desirable knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and steam systems.
