We are seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to join a leading organisation in the FMCG industry. This role involves supporting the finance team with key accounting tasks while ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.

Description:
- Contribute to month-end (quarter-end and year-end) reporting, including accruals and prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Take ownership of the P&L entries for a number of smaller reporting entities.
- Co-ordinate and report on transactions impacting on the annual tax computation.
- Lead the monthly travel expense analysis including reporting to the Finance Director.
- Take ownership of the VAT reporting for a number of Group companies.
- Contribute to the year-end financial statements and audit processes.
- Participate in risk management projects.
- Ad hoc reporting and management information as required.
- Enforce Finance policies and ensure procedures and controls are followed, including assisting in the review of systems and controls, identification of more automated methods and streamlining processes where possible.
- Liaise with internal colleagues at all levels of the business as well as external auditors and advisors.
Profile:
- Experienced in a similar accounting role, including experience in:
- Analysing large data sets.
- Month-end procedures, adhering to reporting deadlines.
- Journal postings.
- Understanding of accounting principles.
- Attention to detail with a proactive approach to tasks.
- Proficient in Excel.
- A genuine team player.
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritise.
- Ability to communicate with colleagues across the business.
Desirable:
- Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or actively enrolled in a professional accounting study programme.
- Experienced in the use of ERP systems.
- Experience of VAT reporting.
