The Head of Operational Finance will oversee the finance teams for accounts payable, receivable and expenses.

The postholder will manage the Capital finances and oversee all reporting on capital for the Trust and College.

Interim Head of Operational and Capital Finance required on a 12-month fixed term contract basis for a leading multi academy trust within the Surrey/South London area

Description

The post holder will report directly to the Director of Finance and will be responsible for managing the transactional teams, developing and maintaining a high-quality service alongside designing efficient systems and processes to report, ensuring accuracy of financial information and internal controls.

This role offers scope to make a massive impact for the organisations in terms of modernising and developing efficient but fit-for purpose processes.

The postholder will be expected to ensure all bank and ledgers regularly under their remit are reconciled and support the audit of these areas for Internal and External audit purposes alongside the Head of Financial Accounting.

Strong leadership skills, an ability to drive a change programme as well as a robust knowledge of policy, good planning and strong influencing skills will be of critical importance in driving forward the departmental objectives.

Beyond ensuring the smooth-running operational effectiveness and service delivery, the role requires the post-holder to be intuitive, resilient, financially astute, problem solving and energetic.

The Head of Operational Finance will be sufficiently flexible to deal with the range of challenges, responding quickly, effectively with creative innovative solutions which remain coherent with our core values and will work closely with Principals, Directors, Heads of Service and will form part of the Senior Finance Management Team.

The post-holder may deputise for the Director of Finance on occasions.

The Head of Operational and Capital Finance will work in collaboration with allied professionals and will need to maintain regular contact with a variety of bodies.

  • ESFA and other funding bodies

  • Organisation Shared Service Teams
  • Auditors and other relevant external bodies
  • Profile
  • A professional accounting qualification (e. g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience in financial management within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Strong knowledge of operational and capital finance processes.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a finance team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Confidence in preparing and presenting financial reports.
