We are looking for an experienced and values-driven Head of Finance to lead the organisation's financial management and reporting.

This is a key senior role, providing strategic and operational financial oversight, supporting the Head of Business Support, the Treasurer, senior managers and Trustees with accurate, timely and insightful financial information.

Client Details

You will oversee day to day financial operations, ensure strong governance and compliance, and play a central role in supporting funding, grants and contractual requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified finance professional with charity or not for profit experience who enjoys working in a purpose-led environment.

  • Description
  • Maintain accurate financial records and accounts, monitoring performance against agreed budgets and highlighting variances
  • Oversee banking arrangements, insurance, payroll processes and service agreements
  • Manage VAT records and ensure timely submission of quarterly VAT returns
  • Prepare clear, accurate and timely financial reports for senior management and the Trustee Board
  • Provide financial information and analysis to support funding applications, contracts and service delivery
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and financial statements, working with senior colleagues, the Treasurer and external auditors
  • Take responsibility for financial returns to funders, regulatory bodies and partner organisations
  • Identify opportunities to claim Gift Aid and prepare and submit Gift Aid returns to HMRC
  • Lead on the financial elements of funding bids and grant applications
  • Prepare and submit regular financial and progress reports for grant‑funded programmes

A successful Head of Finance should have

  • A recognised accounting qualification (e. g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA). or qualified by experience
  • Experience in financial management and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence in presenting financial information to stakeholders.
