The Opportunity

Technology sits at the heart of ASDA's transformation agenda. As Senior Procurement Category Lead - Technology, you will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies across a significant technology spend portfolio spanning infrastructure, software, digital, cloud and technology services. You'll lead some of the organisation's most complex and commercially significant sourcing initiatives, ensuring ASDA maximises value from supplier relationships whilst supporting innovation, operational resilience and long-term technology transformation. This role offers significant visibility across the business and the opportunity to work on major strategic programmes that directly impact customer experience, operational performance and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute category strategies across the Technology portfolio.
  • Lead complex sourcing projects, tenders, and significant commercial negotiations to deliver cost optimisation and value creation opportunities.
  • Ensure robust commercial governance, risk management and supplier compliance.
  • Analyse spend, market trends, and supplier capabilities to inform decision-making.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to understand business priorities and deliver commercial solutions.
  • Play a key role in ASDA's Procurement Transformation Programme.

About You

We're looking for a commercially driven procurement leader who combines strong strategic sourcing expertise with experience operating in complex technology environments, the credibility to influence senior stakeholders and the ambition to shape one of the UK's most significant technology spend portfolios.

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing or Category Management.
  • Strong commercial negotiation and contract management expertise.
  • Experience managing complex, high-value supplier relationships.

  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced transformation environment.
