Key responsibilities of the Audit Manager:
- Leading the planning, execution, and completion of complex audit assignments, including group audits and owner-managed businesses (OMBs)
- Taking full ownership of audit engagements from initial planning through to completion
- Acting as the primary on-site client contact, managing queries and building strong relationships
- Producing high-quality, review-ready audit files to minimise Partner and Director involvement
- Managing team resources and capacity to ensure efficient delivery of audit assignments
- Supporting, mentoring, and developing junior team members
- Acting as a technical point of contact, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP
- Working across a flexible portfolio tailored to expertise (audit-focused or mixed including statutory accounts and tax)
A successful Audit Manager should have:
- ACA or ACCA qualified
- Proven experience at Audit Manager or Assistant Manager level within practice
- Strong technical background in auditing, particularly within owner-managed businesses
- Experience leading audits and managing teams
- Ambitious, proactive, and keen to play a role in shaping a growing department
- Comfortable working in a hands-on role within a dynamic firm environment
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites (including occasional overnight stays)
