To be integral to the Leadership Team within the Faculties/Directorates, providing strategic financial advice to support and influence budget holders on activity. Providing insight to directorate budget holders regarding central objectives and initiatives. A diverse, career-focused Higher Education institution in Southwest London is looking to recruit a Finance Business Partner on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the finance relationship with key budget holders and managers within Faculties/Directorates.
- Providing strategic insight to support their decision-making process.
- Responsible for the production of relevant expenditure budgets and forecasts (including project activity where relevant).
- Interpret management reports, providing added value commentary to budget holders and advising managers in how to respond quickly to changing financial positions and prioritise strategic objectives.
- Responsible for monitoring of financial performance across key areas, including school/departmental contribution, delivery within operational and/or project budgets.
- Ensure that Faculty/Directorate interpretation and input into the strategic plan is both realistic and achievable.
- Analyse financial and non-financial trends by reference to previous years and external data and propose actions to address issues.
- Analysis to support structural and operational review.
- Ensure that financial implications for new and existing contracts are understood by the key stakeholders and that the financial contracts adhere to policy and reflect the Faculty/Directorates' intentions.
- Continual monitoring of the financial performance of these contracts.
- Provide ad hoc analysis to Faculty/Directorates.
- Develop business cases including NPV calculations to ensure that any investment is fully understood and financial implications are effectively communicated to Faculty/Directorate and SMT where applicable.
- Identify cost saving or income enhancement opportunities and escalate to Directorate/School Heads.
- Responsible for financial analysis within post investment/project appraisal review.
- Liaising with both internal and external auditors as required for projects.
- Responsibility for adherence to financial processes, compliance rules/policies.
Profile
- Studying for accountancy qualification/willingness to study.
- Advanced Excel.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
- Confident communicator able to translate complex financial information into meaningful insight.
- Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable influencing senior stakeholders.
- Experienced in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning within a complex organisation.
- Committed to supporting strategic objectives and driving financial sustainability.
