This is a fixed term contract opening that requires extensive, hands-on expertise in IFRS 16, with experience managing large global lease portfolios (late hundreds to thousands of leases).
My client are a major international business based in Bristol and are seeking an experienced senior finance leader to take ownership of its global lease portfolio. They are clear market leaders in their field.
The responsibilities within this role:
- Oversight of all lease related activity on a global scale, ensuring consistent governance and ownership of the full end-to-end lease processes, and effective control throughout the full lease lifecycle.
- Partner with the senior leadership team to shape and influence lease vs buy decisions and provide insight into financial and commercial implications.
- Full accountability for IFRS 16 reporting and ensuring accurate balance sheet recognition and high-quality lease related disclosures across the business.
- Oversee the identification, measurement, and ongoing management of right of use assets and corresponding lease liabilities ensuring integrity of valuation, remeasurement, and lifecycle management.
- Own the relationship with internal and external audit for lease related matters.
- Provide senior oversight of lease contract governance, including rent reviews, escalations, renewals, modifications, and terminations, in partnership with various department heads.
- Own global lease process KPIs, ensuring required targets are met, processes are followed and controls are effective and complete, driving continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, scalability, and control.
- Lead, develop, and influence global and regional teams involved in lease activities.
The successful candidate will possess:
- A full and recognised accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with post qualified experience.
- Deep understanding of lease related financial reporting requirements (including IFRS 16) and their impact on balance sheet recognition and disclosures.
- A proven track record of supporting lease accounting system implementations and transformation programmes.
- Experience managing and governing an established lease accounting process, ensuring compliance and consistency, rather than leading the initial design and implementation.
- Strong end-to-end knowledge of the lease accounting process, with the credibility and confidence to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
Package: £100-125k on a salaried fixed term contract basis. An immediate start is available as this is a business critical role. Some onsite presence is needed but there is a lot of flexibility here for the right profile.
