Description
Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will be responsible for the delivery of accurate financial reporting, statutory accounts, audit management and robust financial controls, while leading and developing a team of three Financial Accountants.
This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys combining hands‑on financial accounting expertise with team leadership.
Key duties
- Lead and manage the month‑end close process, ensuring all reporting deadlines are achieved.
- Review and approve journals, accruals, prepayments, provisions and other month‑end adjustments.
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring outstanding items are identified and resolved promptly.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline month‑end and financial reporting processes.
- Lead the year‑end financial accounting cycle and coordinate the preparation of statutory accounts.
- Manage relationships with internal and external auditors and coordinate all audit requirements.
- Act as the key contact for financial accounting matters during audit processes.
- Manage, coach and develop a team of three Financial Accountants.
- Review the quality and accuracy of work produced across the Financial Accounting team.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls and company policies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the wider business to provide financial expertise and support.
Profile
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Significant experience within a Financial Accounting or Finance Manager position.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting requirements.
- Proven experience managing month‑end and year‑end close processes.
- Experience preparing or overseeing statutory accounts.
- Track record of managing internal and external audits.
- Previous people management experience, with the ability to develop and motivate finance professionals.
- Experience within a complex or multi‑entity environment would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP would be beneficial.
- Experience driving process improvements, finance transformation or automation initiatives is desirable.
Job Offer
- A salary ranging from £65,000 - £80,000 dependent on the level of experience.
