The Senior HSEQ Manager will report to the Site Director and will form a crucial part of the site leadership team, taking ownership of the HSE and PSQR management on their site based in Kingston upon Hull.
Michael Page is working with a leading global manufacturing business to recruit a Senior Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Manager for their Hull based site. Established over 150 years ago, this organisation operates in 70 countries worldwide and is committed to innovation and sustainability. They are now looking for an experienced HSEQ Manager to drive and oversee all HSEQ activity across their major manufacturing facility in Hull.
The Senior HSEQ Manager will manage teams across both HSE and Product Safety Quality & Regulatory, acting as the site's designated responsible person under current HSE legislation and taking ownership of the site's HSE and PSQR management systems, ensuring they are regularly reviewed, fit for purpose, and operating effectively. The role includes leading a broad range of HSE activities, providing expert guidance, and driving continuous improvement to ensure full compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and best practices.
You will:
- Lead HSE governance and reporting, including KPIs, environmental performance, board reporting, and weekly/monthly stakeholder meetings.
- Drive a strong safety culture through hazard identification, audits, investigations, incident reporting, and delivery of the site HSE improvement plan.
- Act as the site HSE subject-matter expert, providing legislative advice, supporting risk assessments, and contributing to the site risk and vulnerability matrix.
- Maintain safe systems of work for employees, contractors, and visitors, including PTW/LOTO, PPE standards, and occupational health surveillance.
- Serve as the primary regulatory and compliance lead, owning the Environmental Permit, managing external authority relationships, and overseeing site security and threat assessments.
- Lead and develop a team of 6 across HSE and PSQR.
- Develop and drive the Hull site HSE Improvement Plan, including initiatives to strengthen safety culture and behaviours.
The successful Senior HSEQ Manager will possess a range of the following:
- Demonstrable and substantial experience of HSEQ leadership within a manufacturing environment (chemical/high-hazard environment advantageous).
- An ability to influence all levels of the organisation to improve health and safety with strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Safety knowledge backed by relevant qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO or degree-level qualification) supported by professional membership.
- Influential with ability to challenge people and process.
- Experience implementing and managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Effective people leader with a strong strategic focus and direction.
- Hands-on, proactive approach with a strong drive for continuous improvement and positive cultural change.
Salary of £75,000- £85,000 plus comprehensive benefits package including car allowance and bonus.
