We are looking for a dedicated Multi‑Skilled Engineer to join a growing team within the manufacturing industry. This role in Essex requires technical expertise and a proactive approach to ensure smooth operations and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Review production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, perform preventative maintenance and tests.
- Carry out preventative maintenance checks and inspections, report findings to Engineering Manager and take appropriate action.
- Analyse mechanical/electrical and operational problems on equipment and plan for and take corrective action.
- Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
- Test equipment, clear jams, try out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
- Act as a specialist on the production equipment, supporting the production team with day‑to‑day problems to maintain output and efficiency.
- Be responsible for machine availability and efficiency.
- Liaise with the production assistant manager to support manufacturing.
- Ensure all compliance checks are complete and correctly filed.
- Liaise with Technical Manager and compliance team to investigate and resolve any H&S, Food Safety, Environmental, BRC, Halal, ISO compliance issues in your area of responsibility.
- Carry out machine adjustments and changeovers to support production line efficiency and minimise downtime.
- Undertake and successfully complete any training/refresher training deemed appropriate to your role as a multi‑skilled engineer and in line with legal or compliance requirements.
- Work Monday‑Friday, 3‑Week rotating shift schedules (06:30‑15:30, 08:00‑17:00 or 10:00‑19:00).
Qualifications and Skills:
- Relevant qualification in engineering or a related field.
- Strong technical knowledge and problem‑solving abilities.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
