Description
Finance Director Key Responsibilities
Commercial Finance
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions.
- Drive pricing, profitability and margin improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and business cases.
- Support international financial planning as overseas operations expand.
Financial Management
- Lead the finance function and manage the Bookkeeper.
- Produce monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
- Oversee cash flow, working capital and KPI reporting.
- Monitor profitability and identify performance trends and anomalies.
Financial Control
- Maintain robust financial controls and compliance.
- Manage month-end and year-end processes.
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors.
- Oversee VAT, tax compliance and balance sheet reconciliations.
Operational Responsibilities
- Oversee AP, AR, credit control and payroll.
- Improve financial systems, reporting and process automation.
- Support ERP and accounting system optimisation.
Profile
A successful Finance Director should have:
- Essential * ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified. * Experience in a similar senior finance role. * Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards. * Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills. * Experience of international trading and multi-currency accounting. * Experience with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar. * Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. * Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
