A multiskilled engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production machinery and site services within a food manufacturing environment. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting production targets.

Description:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and packaging equipment.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform effective fault diagnosis and repair.
  • Ensure all machinery operates in line with food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete all documentation.
  • Work closely with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain utilities (e.g., steam, refrigeration, compressed air systems).
  • Identify root causes of recurring faults and implement corrective actions.

4 on 4 off shift pattern, 2 x 5:00am to 17.00pm then 2 x 17:00pm to 05:00am, 4 days off.

Profile:

  • Proven experience as a maintenance or shift engineer in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Strong electrical and/or mechanical engineering skills.
  • Experience with PLC fault finding (desirable).
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent).
  • Electrical certification (e.g., 18th Edition) - desirable.

Job Offer:

  • Salary- £56,393 per annum.
  • 22 days holiday, inclusive of bank holidays.
  • Over time paid at 1.5 times.
  • 12 Cover days to be worked when demand requires - paid at 1.5 times.
