Looking for a role where you can build a long-term career in finance rather than just process invoices all day? Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this is a hands-on position that will initially focus on the day-to-day finance processes that keep the business running smoothly. There will be opportunities to broaden your responsibilities and grow within the finance function.
This is an opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing business that combines the stability and support of a larger international group with the close-knit feel of a local operation. The business plays an important role within its sector, supplying products to a number of well-known brands and customers across the UK. As part of a larger organisation, employees benefit from the backing, resources and expertise of an international group, while still enjoying the visibility and influence that comes from working within a smaller team. The culture is hands-on, fast-paced and focused on delivery. It’s the kind of environment where people roll their sleeves up, work collaboratively and take ownership of their responsibilities. If you enjoy being busy, working closely with colleagues and seeing the direct impact of your work, you’ll fit in well here.
This is far more than a typical Accounts Assistant processing role. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you’ll be at the heart of the finance function, helping to ensure the smooth running of a busy manufacturing operation. You’ll gain a real understanding of how the business operates, with exposure to multiple areas of finance and the opportunity to develop your responsibilities over time.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing purchase and sales ledger activities, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Performing bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
- Supporting month-end processes and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Assisting with VAT returns and other compliance-related activities.
- Monitoring customer and supplier accounts, helping to keep cash flow and financial data on track.
- Working with the company’s ERP system to maintain accurate finance and operational information.
- Supporting stock and inventory-related finance activities within a manufacturing environment.
- Analysing financial data, identifying issues and helping improve processes.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in producing accurate work, enjoys being busy and wants to build a long-term career within finance. You’ll be the type of person who is naturally organised, enjoys working with numbers and has the determination to see tasks through to completion. This role would suit someone who understands that getting the fundamentals right is critical to the success of the wider business and takes ownership of their work accordingly.
Ideally, you’ll already have experience within an accounts, finance or bookkeeping role and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change. Experience within a manufacturing, production or stock-based business would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
You’ll also be:
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Proactive and willing to get stuck in.
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Analytical with the ability to investigate and resolve issues.
- Confident using Excel and finance systems.
- Keen to learn, develop and take on additional responsibilities over time.
- A team player who enjoys building strong working relationships across the business.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a genuine desire to contribute. The successful candidate won’t be afraid of hard work and will enjoy being part of a business where people are trusted to take ownership, deliver results and continuously improve.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants more than just a transactional finance role and is looking to develop their skills within a supportive business that can offer long-term career progression.
This is a business that looks after its people and recognises that a strong team is key to its success. Alongside a competitive salary of £30,000 - £35,000, you’ll benefit from:
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
- Attendance bonus.
- An additional week’s pay at Christmas after 12 months’ service.
- Enhanced pension scheme, with employer contributions matched up to 8%.
- Free on-site parking.
- Company-funded summer events and social activities.
- The stability and security of being part of a larger international group.
Beyond the tangible benefits, you’ll be joining a business where you’ll be given the opportunity to learn the operation from the ground up and develop your career over time. You’ll work closely with an experienced Finance Manager, gain exposure to a broad range of finance activities and become a valued member of a small, supportive team where your contribution is genuinely noticed.
This is a business that rewards commitment, invests in its people and offers the chance to build a long-term career rather than simply filling a seat. If you’re looking for a role where you can develop your skills, gain valuable experience and be part of a hardworking, supportive environment, this opportunity offers exactly that.
