Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Cost Accountant include:

  • Build and maintain product standard costs within SAP
  • Monitor actual vs standard costs, investigate variances, and provide insight
  • Produce weekly and monthly profitability and management reports
  • Optimise costing and margin analysis processes to improve accuracy and controls
  • Calculate and review machine hourly rates
  • Manage the capex process and fixed asset register
  • Support month-end management accounts preparation
  • Prepare stock provisions and oversee perpetual inventory counts
  • Lead and support stock takes, including variance analysis
  • Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audits
  • Provide financial data to support budgeting and forecasting
  • Drive continuous improvement across cost accounting processes
  • Work cross-functionally with production, IT, and operational teams

Profile

A successful Cost Accountant should have:

  • Proven experience in cost accounting within the industrial or manufacturing sector.
  • A strong understanding of financial principles and cost management.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A relevant qualification in accounting or finance.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
