Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the Cost Accountant include:
- Build and maintain product standard costs within SAP
- Monitor actual vs standard costs, investigate variances, and provide insight
- Produce weekly and monthly profitability and management reports
- Optimise costing and margin analysis processes to improve accuracy and controls
- Calculate and review machine hourly rates
- Manage the capex process and fixed asset register
- Support month-end management accounts preparation
- Prepare stock provisions and oversee perpetual inventory counts
- Lead and support stock takes, including variance analysis
- Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audits
- Provide financial data to support budgeting and forecasting
- Drive continuous improvement across cost accounting processes
- Work cross-functionally with production, IT, and operational teams
Profile
A successful Cost Accountant should have:
- Proven experience in cost accounting within the industrial or manufacturing sector.
- A strong understanding of financial principles and cost management.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A relevant qualification in accounting or finance.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
