This is a fantastic opportunity for a CCAB Qualified Accountant to join Museum Wales as their next Finance Business Partner - Financial Accounts. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the FBP plays a pivotal role in the organisation. The role will be responsible for:

  • Plan and oversee Financial Accounting services including maintaining private funds records, management of payments and income team (4 staff), administering payments runs and dealing with purchase ledger queries, overseeing bank and cash management services.
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts and audit working papers for Museum (with Head of Finance), trading subsidiary and joint venture.
  • Be part of trading subsidiary senior management team, which is responsible for trading subsidiary strategy.
  • Support departments in developing commercial/cost recovery income generation.
  • As part of the department management team, develop and implement systems and procedures, and ensure good communication with departments across Museum Wales.
  • Provide targeted financial advice to heads of department to help meet budgeted requirements, improve performance, and meet goals of the organisation.

A successful Finance Business Partner should have:

  • Professional qualifications in accounting or finance (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Extensive experience of preparing final statutory accounts with supporting working papers, including reconciled control accounts, and liaising with auditors.
  • Staff supervision.
  • Developing and implementing financial procedures.
  • Providing financial information for and appraising income generation initiatives.
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts and reporting to tight deadlines.
  • Good technical accounting skills - Experience of IFRS 102 would be advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels including those with no finance knowledge or skills.
  • Good organisational skills, ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to operate effectively and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary organisation and in an environment of change.

Competitive salary ranging from £57,000 to £62,000 per annum. Generous holiday allowance of 27 days + Bank holidays rising to 30+8 after 5 years. Very Attractive CAREER AVERAGE PENSION - you contribute 8%. Hybrid working - 2 days a week in the office.
