This opportunity in Birmingham is an excellent locum role within a major UK infrastructure programme. Joining on an initial 6 month contract, you will support on complex commercial and construction matters, working closely with internal stakeholders to deliver practical legal solutions.
Our client is a major public interest infrastructure organisation at the heart of one of the UK's most significant transport programmes. It offers exposure to complex procurement, construction and stakeholder matters across a large scale, nationally important project.
DescriptionThe Legal Counsel - Construction/Commercial will be:
- Assisting with the delivery of high quality legal advice across commercial and contracts matters
- Drafting and reviewing construction, funding and other commercial agreements
- Supporting procurement and negotiation activity on high value project work
- Advising internal stakeholders on contractual and legal risk issues
- Assisting with statutory advice where required
- Supporting the resolution of contractual claims and disputes, including liaising with external lawyers
- Helping manage external legal support, budgets, timescales and quality of output
The Legal Counsel - Construction/Commercial should be:
- A solicitor or equivalent with 1 to 2 years PQE
- From a commercial and/or construction law background
- Able to demonstrate experience of drafting legal documents with confidence
- Experienced in house, or able to show strong client facing advisory skills from private practice
- Familiar with contract law and ideally procurement law within major projects
- Comfortable supporting on UK construction, infrastructure, utilities, transport or government related work
- Strong in written communication, legal drafting and stakeholder engagement
- Organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities to deadline
- Eligible to obtain BPSS clearance
