We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join a thriving retail organisation in Birchwood, Warrington. The ideal candidate will support the accounting and finance team, ensuring accurate financial records and efficient processes.

Description

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Reconcile accounts and ensure the accuracy of financial transactions.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain and update financial records and documentation.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Process key supplier payment runs weekly
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and other compliance documents.
  • Collaborate with the wider accounting and finance team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits.

Profile

A successful Assistant Accountant should have:

  • A recognised qualification or studying towards AAT
  • Previous experience in a similar accounting role within the retail sector is advantageous.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
