Job Description

  • Drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney, and related documents.
  • Assisting with the administration of estates, including preparing Confirmation applications, inheritance tax forms, and asset schedules.
  • Handling guardianship applications and other incapacity-related matters.
  • Liaising with clients, beneficiaries, HMRC, banks, and other third parties.
  • Maintaining accurate case files and ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements (including Law Society of Scotland standards).
  • Providing general support to solicitors and fee earners within the Private Client team.
  • Supporting the development of the department\'s client relationships and business development goals

The Successful Applicant

  • A Paralegal qualification (ideally from the Law Society of Scotland or similar recognised body).
  • Demonstrable experience in Private Client law, ideally within a Scottish law firm.
  • Strong understanding of Scottish succession law, Powers of Attorney, and the Confirmation process.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and client-care skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a busy caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in legal software and case management systems.
