Job Description:
The Data Protection & Commercial Counsel will be a key member of the Legal team. They will advise on complex contractual privacy matters and provide commercial drafting support.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive advice on privacy and data protection issues
- Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and advising stakeholders on potential impacts
- Monitoring regulatory changes and updates
- Collaborating with the DPO and data protection team on operational escalations
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts such as IT, SaaS, IP, and consultancy agreements
- Managing privacy and data protection training for staff
- Representing the organisation in privacy-related inquiries or investigations
The Successful Applicant:
The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor in England & Wales with an up-to-date practising certificate. Additionally, they will have:
- Approximately 4 years PQE
- Experience in a similar role within the not-for-profit sector
- Knowledge of data protection advisory
- Strong commercial contract drafting skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in managing complex projects
