Job Description
- Lead the preparation and delivery of insightful monthly management accounts, taking full ownership of the Profit & Loss, Fixed Asset Register, and Balance Sheet to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Design and enhance management reporting tools that go beyond the numbers, offering actionable insights through variance analysis (actuals vs. budget) to help drive strategic performance across the business.
- Perform in-depth profitability analysis across business units, services, and projects, providing key financial intelligence to support informed decision-making at a strategic level.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to refine systems and processes that elevate the quality and speed of financial analysis and reporting.
- Oversee and optimise stock valuation methodologies across the Group, establishing performance benchmarks and identifying inefficiencies such as slow-moving inventory.
- Partner with Procurement to drive material cost efficiencies, contributing to more accurate stocktakes and identifying opportunities for cost reduction per product.
- Validate and analyse Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support accurate product pricing, using variance analysis to propose enhancements in operations and procurement processes.
- Develop and implement robust cost control tools, ensuring expenditures are properly authorised, allocated, and clearly communicated to budget holders.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to provide meaningful insight into material usage and labour efficiency, supporting teams with timely variance explanations and actionable recommendations.
- Take a future-facing lead role in ERP/SAP implementation, helping shape the company's digital transformation to enhance data integrity and business intelligence.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Management Accountant should have:
- A recognised accounting qualification or equivalent experience in accounting and finance.
- Strong knowledge of financial processes and reporting in the industrial/manufacturing sector.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- An analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy and detail.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.
