About Our Client
Our client is a leading recycling and resource recovery business in Nottingham operating a large-scale engineering and maintenance function. They are looking for an interim Mechanical Fitter.
Job Description
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and processing equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, shredders, crushers, and associated plant machinery.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
- Install, maintain, and replace mechanical components and equipment as required.
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and report potential issues before failure occurs.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve plant reliability and performance.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using a CMMS or maintenance management system.
- Support site improvement projects, equipment upgrades, and new installations.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with contractor management and oversee external maintenance activities when required.
The Successful Applicant
- NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, or Mechanical Technician within a manufacturing, recycling, waste management, process, or heavy industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including bearings, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Experience conducting fault-finding and breakdown repairs.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.
- Welding and fabrication experience would be advantageous.
- Can commute to Nottingham
