Wide-ranging in-house role for a lawyer with experience of Construction Contracts.

About Our Client: Our Client is a listed company operating in the built environment, and a household name in the construction sector.

Job Description: You will work with clients and suppliers including external legal advisors, collaborating with customers, supply chain, JV Partners, outside agencies/bodies, and other parts of the Group. You will have responsibility at all stages of the life-cycle of our construction projects including:

  • Reviewing and negotiating upstream and downstream construction contracts and associated PCGs, warranties, and bonds.
  • Advising on contract administration queries including extensions of time and loss and expense claims.
  • Advising in relation to all forms of dispute management and resolution.

You will:

  • Advise and assist the UK businesses in the negotiation and drafting of contract terms and conditions with its clients, partners, supply chain members, and other stakeholders.
  • Review the wording of bonds, guarantees, and warranties in accordance with UK and Group policies and provide timely advice.
  • Liaise with UK Commercial, Treasury, and Group Legal teams to procure bonds and parent company guarantees.
  • Provide legal support in relation to all forms of dispute management and resolution and conduct/assist with adjudications or other forms of ADR as directed by Managing Counsel or Senior Counsel.
  • Engage and manage agreed panel law firms in relation to mediation, litigation, or arbitration.

The Successful Applicant: The successful candidate will be a Qualified solicitor/barrister; ideally not less than two years PQE (consideration may be given to less experienced candidates displaying requisite skills and experience). Knowledge and experience of the construction/infrastructure industry including standard form construction contracts is essential. You must also have a willingness and ability to attend the office in London 3 days per week.
