Overview

You will partner with operations, sales, and external stakeholders to ensure robust financial and commercial management of high-value, long-term projects. Act as the key finance business partner, with end-to-end responsibility for project financial performance, risk management, and commercial support. This role is critical in driving profitability, ensuring financial integrity, and enabling the successful delivery of complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Business Partnering: Serve as the trusted financial advisor to the Operations and Sales, providing expertise on financial performance, commercial terms, and contractual risk, while supporting new business opportunities and contract variations from a finance perspective.
  • P&L and Balance Sheet Ownership: Take accountability for all key financial metrics (revenue, margin, operating profit, cash flow, debtors, and inventory) across assigned projects, ensuring early identification of risks and execution of mitigation strategies to protect profitability and cash generation.
  • Financial Close & Reporting: Manage the period-end close process for assigned projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting that aligns with Group accounting standards.
  • Forecasting & Planning: Deliver a robust monthly forecast with clear visibility of variances versus plan, supported by risk and opportunity analysis across revenue, cost, and working capital.
  • Financial Systems Expertise: Develop deep expertise in the bespoke SAP system, ensuring accurate system-driven project reporting and leveraging full system capabilities to improve financial transparency.
  • Digital Finance & Process Optimisation: Champion the digitalisation and automation agenda, streamlining finance processes, eliminating non-value-add activities, and driving continuous improvement in financial reporting and control.

The Successful Applicant

  • A professional qualification in accounting or finance (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Proven experience in project accounting
  • Commercially strong
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial planning and forecasting techniques.
  • SAP experience is a must

What’s on Offer

£85,000 – £95,000 + Car Allowance + 20% bonus
