Job Description
Translate documents and communications accurately between Japanese and English.
Manage correspondence and communication in both Japanese and English.
Act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders.
Proofread English texts with a focus on linguistic nuance and precision
Create and manage English language content for internal use
Provide cultural and linguistic insights related to Japanese
Evaluate both machine-generated and human translation data
Collect and curate data for use in linguistic research and development
Distinguish and communicate the unique features of various English dialects
Analyse English texts for semantic clarity, grammatical accuracy, and stylistic quality
The Successful Applicant
A successful Interim Japanese Specialist should have:
MA degree in linguistics, language or related field.
Has at least 2 years of professional translation experience
Deep understanding of Japanese language and cultural nuances
Familiarity with various English dialects and their distinctions
Fluent in American English, both written and spoken
Strong analytical skills in morphology, syntax, grammar, and spelling
Additional fluency in German, French, or Spanish is highly desirable
Experience teaching English as a second language is a plus
Background in language quality assurance and localisation is beneficial
