Job Description
The successful Data Lead will be responsible for:
- Driving key data activities across data foundations, metric delivery and reporting, bridging the gap between data discovery and ingestion, and metric reporting requirements.
- Working closely with the existing team and stakeholders based in the UK and Bangalore across the Sustainability workstreams.
Project Scope and Objectives:
- Managing the relationship between Data Owners and the Data Delivery Squads (Data Foundations and Gaia).
- Planning and coordinating dataset ingestion activities across Sustainability Data Foundation squads.
- Coordinating data modelling and lineage activities to ensure the MSM metric implementation team receives the data they require in a timely manner.
- Tracking and documenting ongoing data activities across the Sustainability Data Programme.
- Becoming familiar with the scope of the metrics/KPIs to be delivered with the squad, reporting up to the Sustainability core team on progress in delivery.
Project Timeline:
- Ensuring the delivery of curated data stays on schedule by monitoring progress and making necessary adjustments.
- Supporting the delivery of tranches 1 & 2 of sustainability metrics.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Taking ownership of specific data-related tasks within the project to drive progress and collaboration across squads.
- Coordinating with data product managers, scrum masters and Sustainability team members to ensure seamless collaboration and integration of efforts.
Data Sources and Collection Methods:
- Overseeing the identification and ingestion of relevant data sources.
- Implementing and managing methods for accurate data collection and verification, working with the cross-functional team.
- Ensuring data modelling activities are coordinated between Data Foundation squads and the MSM implementation team, bridging the gap between data ingestion and downstream reporting requirements.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Utilising appropriate tools and software for managing required tasks, risks and dependencies, including Jira, Aha and Confluence.
- Working with the Data Ops squad to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data being ingested.
- Preparing comprehensive reports and presentations for stakeholders, highlighting key findings and insights.
Risk Management:
- Identifying potential risks and challenges within their area of responsibility.
- Developing and implementing mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
Communication Plan:
- Managing communication within the squads and the Sustainability Leadership team to ensure clear and consistent information flow.
- Utilising regular communication channels and maintaining a schedule for updates and progress reports in line with defined project governance cadence.
- Communicating with business stakeholders to gather and document requirements to feed down into the delivery team, tracking any changes.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensuring adherence to relevant sustainability standards and regulations within their scope.
- Implementing processes to maintain compliance with data principles and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
The Successful Applicant
Skill requirements:
- Data domain expertise, including an understanding of data governance, modelling and engineering principles and ways of working.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and management.
- Agile delivery experience; road-mapping, reporting, story writing (Jira & Confluence).
- Strong data Platforms/Foundations technical experience.
- Experience in the Sustainability domain desirable, but not essential.
Essential:
- Experience as a Data Product Manager / Owner or similar roles in a product-led environment within R&D, QSC, Customer, Consumer, Finance, HR etc.
- Managed product backlogs and prioritisation for data-driven products.
- Hands-on technical experience advantageous (i.e. Data Analytics, Data Modelling, Data Engineering, Cloud Platforms, BI).
- Knowledge of Data Governance processes and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively convey complex requirements and work with a mixture of senior technical and non-technical stakeholders, with a focus on value and prioritisation.
- Experience working within a Data Office and/or Data Platforms business area.
- Experience working and delivering through an agile methodology to deliver rapid value to business stakeholders.
- Strong Data Analytics skills to support and enable technical data teams.
- Product management skills, including interpersonal skills, research, communications (esp. listening), demonstrated influence, and the ability to have crucial and difficult conversations.
Preferred:
- A knowledge of the FMCG or Sustainability industries and external perspective on challenges and innovation opportunities.
- Significant experience successfully delivering complex projects to a high standard and within short timeframes. Desirable recent examples of delivery of data or technology products/projects.
- Experience working with MS Purview or other data cataloguing tools.
What’s on Offer
The successful Data Lead will have the opportunity to work within the pharmaceuticals sector in London.
£450-550 p/day (IR35 TBC)
Initially until 30-June-2025, with potential to extend through 31-December via CR.
Hours: 9am to 5:30pm GMT.
