About Our Client
This growing, medium-sized accountancy firm in London has a Business Services team which provides technical financial reporting advice to clients in the financial services sector.
Job Description
- Provide quality accounting services to clients in the financial services sector, with a focus on financial reporting under UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Manage a growing client portfolio, as well as carry out all accounting work for a wide range of profit-making organisations in accordance with the firm's and statutory procedures.
- Plan, execute, complete and produce client-ready product independently and with minimum supervision.
- Prepare financial statements under UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Prepare detailed consolidation workings for groups to support the financial statement preparation process.
- Support year end process through liaison with external auditors in a timely and professional manner.
- Research, draft and respond to client technical queries covering IFRS and UK GAAP corporate reporting matters, working both independently and supporting senior team members.
- Develop and maintain an advanced level of technical knowledge through appropriate reading, research and development and training requirements.
- Liaise with clients continually on topics including communicating job status, resolving technical queries and seeking required information relevant for the financial statements.
- Potential to maintain a small portfolio of clients that require monthly/quarterly management accounts and VAT reporting.
- Delegate, supervise, and review the work of junior members of the team, providing feedback and support as necessary, including being involved in the development of junior staff.
- Understand the specification of the assignment agreed with the client and report immediately to the Manager (or Partner) if and when this specification may need to be changed.
- Support the Manager and/or Partner with client pitch documentation and meetings.
The Successful Applicant
- ACCA or ACA qualified
- Experience of preparing statutory accounts and management accounts gained in a medium or large accountancy firm
- Knowledge and experience of UK GAAP, specifically an understanding of FRS102
- Knowledge and experience of IFRS
- Excellent communication skills
- Client facing experience, preferably within the financial services sector
- MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Accounting software knowledge and experience - Sage, QuickBooks or Xero CaseWare
