About Our Client

This growing, medium-sized accountancy firm in London has a Business Services team which provides technical financial reporting advice to clients in the financial services sector.

Job Description

  • Provide quality accounting services to clients in the financial services sector, with a focus on financial reporting under UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Manage a growing client portfolio, as well as carry out all accounting work for a wide range of profit-making organisations in accordance with the firm's and statutory procedures.
  • Plan, execute, complete and produce client-ready product independently and with minimum supervision.
  • Prepare financial statements under UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Prepare detailed consolidation workings for groups to support the financial statement preparation process.
  • Support year end process through liaison with external auditors in a timely and professional manner.
  • Research, draft and respond to client technical queries covering IFRS and UK GAAP corporate reporting matters, working both independently and supporting senior team members.
  • Develop and maintain an advanced level of technical knowledge through appropriate reading, research and development and training requirements.
  • Liaise with clients continually on topics including communicating job status, resolving technical queries and seeking required information relevant for the financial statements.
  • Potential to maintain a small portfolio of clients that require monthly/quarterly management accounts and VAT reporting.
  • Delegate, supervise, and review the work of junior members of the team, providing feedback and support as necessary, including being involved in the development of junior staff.
  • Understand the specification of the assignment agreed with the client and report immediately to the Manager (or Partner) if and when this specification may need to be changed.
  • Support the Manager and/or Partner with client pitch documentation and meetings.

The Successful Applicant

  • ACCA or ACA qualified
  • Experience of preparing statutory accounts and management accounts gained in a medium or large accountancy firm
  • Knowledge and experience of UK GAAP, specifically an understanding of FRS102
  • Knowledge and experience of IFRS
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Client facing experience, preferably within the financial services sector
  • MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Accounting software knowledge and experience - Sage, QuickBooks or Xero CaseWare
