About Our Client
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Management Accountant to join a growing finance team in Bury. This is a key role within the finance function, supporting senior management with accurate financial reporting, analysis, and insight to drive business performance.
Job Description
The key responsibilities of a Management Accountant will include:
- Prepare monthly management accounts in collaboration with the finance team, including clear and insightful financial commentary for the wider business.
- Work closely with budget holders and internal departments to strengthen cost control, improve profitability, and enhance financial understanding of business performance.
- Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, including detailed variance analysis.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting records, including timely balance sheet reconciliations.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and enhance financial controls.
- Contribute to ad hoc financial projects, producing financial models and analysis to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and act as a key point of contact for external auditors.
- Provide cover for other finance team members when required, including VAT returns and accounts payable activities.
The Successful Applicant
The successful Management Accountant will be:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Demonstrable experience in a similar management accounting or finance role
- 2-5 years' post-qualification experience in a relevant environment
- Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with stakeholders
- Strong team player with experience contributing to finance-led projects
- Commercially astute with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Competent Excel user (minimum intermediate level)
