Job Description
As our Lead Surveyor, you\’ll play a pivotal role in delivering the Council\’s strategic goals through expert property management, planning and development leadership. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Leading delivery of the Council\’s Asset Management Plan for key strategy and development sites
- Managing the Council\’s property disposal programme
- Overseeing our in-house planning consultancy service, including S106 and CIL negotiations to support education provision
- Developing and implementing strategies for the Council\’s most significant development sites
- Leading high-value acquisitions and disposals, ensuring optimal long-term outcomes for the Council
- Collaborating with internal planning, regeneration, and housing teams to unlock development potential
The Successful Applicant
We\’ll provide support, training and a collaborative environment-but to thrive in this role, you\’ll ideally bring:
- Full RICS membership, with 5+ years post-qualification experience in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
- A proven track record in real estate strategy, site acquisition/disposal, and development planning
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and the ability to deliver outcomes that balance economic, social, and community value
- In-depth knowledge of local authority planning and asset management frameworks, including education-related development
