A hands-on leadership role responsible for managing the full lifecycle of banking applications, including development, support, and delivery. You will oversee core systems, lead a small team, and ensure secure, reliable, and compliant technology solutions that support critical business operations.

Description:

  • Oversee core banking application environments, including patching, EOD processing, and system performance.
  • Provide hands-on support for application failures and ensure rapid resolution.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams on system performance, backup, and recovery.
  • Lead and manage a team of developers and application support analysts.
  • Deliver software changes, projects, and BAU enhancements.
  • Plan and manage workloads, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure effective application support, incident management, and SLA adherence.
  • Implement monitoring, performance tuning, and optimisation strategies.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure third-party support continuity.
  • Oversee application upgrades, patches, and maintenance with minimal disruption.
  • Maintain documentation, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
  • Provide reporting and updates to senior stakeholders and project teams.

Profile: A successful Application Development and Support Manager should have:

  • Proven experience in application development and support management.
  • Strong knowledge of application lifecycle management, Agile, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with incident management in complex technical environments.
  • Familiarity with core banking systems and enterprise platforms.
  • Experience with IBM Power Systems, AS/400, RPG, or COBOL is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of software development, testing, and documentation practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or cloud-based platforms.
  • Knowledge of ITIL or similar service management frameworks.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
