This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving technology business as they scale their in-house Networking team at their Birmingham head office. They are now recruiting for a 2nd/3rd Line Network Engineer to provide Helpdesk support to their ever-expanding customer base.

As the successful candidate for the 2nd/3rd Line Network Engineer role, you will join a talented team providing expert Helpdesk support to customers, covering a wide array of networking issues. You will support and troubleshoot VLANs, static routing and other dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF and EIGRP. In addition to VLAN support, you will setup and maintain site-to-site VPN configuration. Efficient network operations are critical to the business, so you will cover regular DHCP and DNS support. The client base is varied in scope, so you will be involved in support of LAN, WAN and SD-WAN environments. Firewall and switch support will be a central focus, and you will cover a variety of vendors, such as Cisco Meraki, SonicWall and Aruba. You will act as an escalation point to the 1st Line team where necessary, providing more advanced support across both hardware and software systems. In addition to the central BAU focus of troubleshooting and support, you will also have the chance to overlap into projects involving the expansion or enhancement of network infrastructure. The role will have a hybrid focus, but given the Helpdesk aspects of the role, and the collaborative nature of the team, you will be based at the Birmingham office 4 days a week, with 1 day a week from home.

As the successful candidate for the 2nd/3rd Line Network Engineer, you will have at least 2-3 years commercial experience in the following areas:

  • VLANs
  • TCP/IP
  • DHCP / DNS
  • LAN/WAN, SD-WAN
  • Router, switch and firewall support
  • Cisco Meraki and/or Aruba, HP, SonicWall
  • Knowledge of network security practices and tools

A starting salary of £40,000 to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience. Comprehensive benefits package. Industry-leading training and development opportunities within a leading Technology business.
