The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective financial controls, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. The role supports operational and strategic decision-making through the timely production of management information, cashflow forecasting, and business partnering across departments.

Responsibilities:

  • On a monthly basis produce the management accounts, cashflow forecast & analysis pack within deadlines.
  • Submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Fulfil the company's banking covenant for the Accounts Receivable and Inventory facility.
  • Ensure the bi-annual audit from our banking partners is successful.
  • Ensure all control accounts reconcile.
  • Submit RHI readings to OFGEM and submit ROCs to auction.
  • Complete statutory government surveys.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, including Accounts Payable/Receivable and accounting functions, reporting into the Head of Finance.
  • Manage a team of four responsible for month end close of Accounts Payable & receivable.
  • Ensure accuracy of postings into the nominal ledger in line with the company's nominal structure.
  • Ensure payment terms and credit terms are accurately reflected in Sage.
  • Be responsible for chasing of the debtor book.
  • Ensure subsidiary companies are kept up to date.
  • Ensure payroll is submitted to payroll partners and that the payroll is accurate each month, including providing accurate employee benefits information.
  • Ensure P11ds are submitted on time.
  • Participate in the approval of requisitions.
  • Business partner with the maintenance and production teams, reviewing results with them and identifying improvements.
  • Actively engage with process improvement, reviewing and improving existing accounting procedures, software usage, and financial systems to increase efficiency.
  • Actively identify & implement process improvements projects, either quick wins or longer-term improvements.

Profile:

  • A professional accounting qualification, such as CA, ACCA, or CIMA.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proven experience in financial management within the industrial/manufacturing industry.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities to manage a team effectively.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process improvement.
