An excellent opportunity for an experienced Interim Legal Counsel to join a household name in Northamptonshire on an immediate 2 to 3 month assignment. The initial focus will be working through a backlog of commercial contracts and agreements, alongside providing broader legal support across the organisation. This is a full time hybrid role requiring 1 to 2 days per week in the office.
Our client is a large, purpose led charity operating across a diverse and complex organisation. Its legal team supports a wide variety of operational, commercial, property, governance and regulatory matters, giving the successful lawyer excellent exposure to senior stakeholders and genuinely varied work. The Interim Legal Counsel will be:
- Taking ownership of a backlog of commercial contracts and agreements across the organisation, drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of supplier and operational contracts
- Providing practical legal advice on commercial relationships, tenders, contractual risk, disputes, licensing, funding, sponsorship and other business agreements
- Supporting the wider legal team with commercial property matters including leases, renewals, licences, assignments, disposals and property projects where experience allows
- Advising senior stakeholders on legal risk, governance, regulatory compliance and emerging legal developments
- Supporting broader matters including data protection, healthcare regulation, charity law, complaints, regulatory issues and contract management where required
The Interim Legal Counsel should be:
- A solicitor or equivalent with substantial post qualification experience
- An experienced commercial contracts lawyer who can independently draft, review and negotiate a broad range of agreements
- Able to quickly assess contractual risk, prioritise a busy workload and provide clear, pragmatic advice to non legal stakeholders
- Ideally experienced within an in house legal team, charity, healthcare, public sector or similarly regulated organisation
- Additional experience across commercial property, charity law, governance, regulatory matters or healthcare would be highly advantageous
- Immediately available or able to start at very short notice
This is an immediate 2 to 3 month interim opportunity offering a varied workload within a highly regarded national charity.
