Reporting to the Head of Intellectual Property and Licensing, the Licensing Development Manager will be a key, customer-facing role responsible for driving compliance, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and increasing revenue generated from licensed products.
The College of Policing is the professional body for policing in England and Wales. It plays a critical role in setting standards, developing skills, and supporting policing professionals across the country. The College is committed to driving excellence through innovation, collaboration, and the effective use of its intellectual property. As part of its continued focus on commercial development, it is seeking a Licensing Development Manager to support and grow its licensing function.
This is a 12-month maternity cover position. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining strong, business-focused relationships with Home Office police forces and other licensees
- Ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, including the accurate payment of royalties
- Designing and implementing compliance monitoring programmes across a geographically dispersed licensee base
- Conducting regular audits and producing reports with recommendations to address non-compliance
- Delivering presentations and briefings to stakeholders to increase awareness and uptake of licensed products
- Acting as the primary point of contact for licensing queries and supporting licensees in delivering products effectively
- Collaborating with internal teams across commercial, business development and international functions
- Identifying opportunities to leverage the College's intellectual property to generate additional income and expand into new markets
You will be a commercially minded professional with experience in licensing, intellectual property, or managing commercial partnerships within a complex or regulated environment. You will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in leveraging intellectual property to generate revenue and support innovation or knowledge transfer
- Strong experience in building and managing client relationships, with the ability to grow existing markets and develop new opportunities
- Experience developing and implementing compliance monitoring frameworks
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at senior levels
- Experience delivering presentations and producing high-quality reports
- Strong commercial acumen and a proactive, results-driven approach
- Excellent communication skills and a consultative style
- Knowledge of the UK policing landscape or public sector environment is advantageous
The College of Policing offers an attractive public sector reward package, including:
- Salary: Grade T3-17 - National £47,720-£59,330 or London £52,758-£64,438
- Pension: Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension Scheme with an average employer contribution of 28%
- Annual leave: Up to 31 days annual leave plus 8 public holidays and 1 privilege day
- Working pattern: Designated homeworking role or office-based at Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Durham, Harrogate or London; hybrid working available
