This is an In‑house Solicitor focused on Employment, Commercial and Policy work. This Hybrid position is for a lawyer with Circa 2‑3 years of PQE.

This role focusses on the delivery of advice and legal support to Trade Body members, to enable them to navigate the legal and commercial challenges of running compliant businesses in the relevant sector and support the department’s aim to drive high standards in the industry. It is a unique role in which the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to help shape legislation working with the internal Campaigns Team on government consultations to provide analysis of new/amended legislation particularly concerning employment legislation.
Duties include:- People Management and Advisory Work: To provide day‑to‑day management of the legal team and to meet the needs of the Trade Body’s members by delivering advice including by phone and email in a timely and accurate fashion, in matters relating to the operation of members’ businesses.
- Monitoring the advice we give members, to ensure it is the best possible and is delivered in a timely and accurate fashion, in particular but not limited to Employment, commercial and some tax matters.
- Regulatory oversight: Monitoring and maintaining SLAs on the service provided to members. Ensure that members receive accurate contracts, model documents and legal information in a timely fashion and in line with member needs.
- Policy and Lobbying: Analysing and providing guidance on draft legislation, statutory guidance, proposed legislative amendments and providing a view on impacts for the sector. Supporting Campaigns activities by ensuring the delivery of suitable input to consultation documents and engagement with external stakeholders where required. Keeping up to date with developments in the industry so far as they impact on advice.
- Governance and Compliance: Assisting with the management and preparation of legal information, articles and model documents and publications for members and preparing information for external publications with a view to raising the profile of the Trade Body and its membership. Contribute to and deliver where necessary, briefing events on legal matters to members. To be part of the management team that drives compliance and legal advice for members. Assist with the internal advice required across the organisation. To support the Trade Body’s Compliance function.
- Training: Providing coaching and training for legal advice team. Developing and delivering training sessions for the wider business in key areas.
The successful candidate will be a UK qualified Solicitor. They will likely have around 2 or 3 years of PQE. They will have a sound working knowledge of employment law (pre‑requisite) and ideally: be looking to work in a unique in‑house role and have the ability to manage a team of specialists and subject matter experts. They will also have a willingness and ability to attend the Trade Body’s Head of Office in London on a Hybrid basis.
