The position is for a Senior Associate Lawyer within a public law team, primarily focused on criminal litigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct criminal litigation - handling prosecutions related to fare evasion and taxi/private hire trade.
- Draft legal documents and oversee case preparation - drafting and reviewing witness statements, managing disclosure, and corresponding with litigants or their representatives.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external counsel by acting as the decision-maker on legal matters, including liaising with counsel (barristers).
- Ensure compliance with public and regulatory law standards - providing regulatory and compliance advice.
Profile
The successful candidate will be a lawyer, qualified in England & Wales who is likely to have between 3 - 5 years PQE (although applications at all levels of experience will be considered). They will have Criminal Litigation Experience (this is mandatory) as well as drafting and decision-making skills - ability to prepare and approve legal documents.
Additional desirable skills
- Public and regulatory law experience.
- Familiarity with compliance and enforcement contexts (e.g., health & safety, environmental law).
