Description
The role of General Counsel will include the following responsibilities:
- Act as the sole in-house lawyer, taking ownership of legal matters across the business.
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts and agreements.
- Advise on employment, intellectual property, property and data protection matters.
- Manage regulatory, compliance and corporate governance requirements.
- Oversee disputes and litigation, working with external counsel where appropriate.
- Identify and manage legal and commercial risk, providing pragmatic, solutions-focused advice.
- Partner closely with senior management and stakeholders, supporting commercial decision-making across the organisation.
Profile
Suitable candidates for the role will have the following qualifications and experience:
- A qualified solicitor in the UK or similar jurisdiction.
- Proven experience operating in an in-house commercial setting.
- Strong experience in Commercial law is essential.
- Proven experience in providing high calibre, broad generalist support to stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in supporting on areas such as Employment, Compliance and Governance matters would be beneficial.
